This position assists with the coordination and implementation of disability accommodations and learning assistance services in accordance with ADA, Section 504 and state law. This includes serving as a liaison among all University Health Science Colleges, analyzing and interpreting diagnostic assessments, ensuring accessibility of all facets of student life and making recommendations for appropriate accommodations for eligible students, including didactic, lab and clinical environments.

Manage the interactive process for all University Health Science colleges including but not limited to, process intakes for disability accommodation requests, collect, verify, and maintain relevant documentation; analyze and interpret students’ diagnostic assessments and determine eligibility for services.

Coordinate testing processes and scheduling; facilitate reasonable didactic, lab and clinical accommodations including the arranging of assistive technology consistent with students’ letter of accommodation and throughout their academic career.

Conduct outreach training for faculty and staff about disability accommodations and services in compliance with University policies and procedures.

Work collaboratively with faculty and professional staff across the University Health Science colleges and serve as a liaison to regional campuses and clinical training affiliates to coordinate learning assistance and other academic support services.

Maintain and track case files including, inputting notes, and documentation at various stages of the interactive process using a case management system.

Assist in disability related programming and campus educational and assessment initiatives.

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling or related field required; Master’s degree in Public Health, Counseling or Social Work preferred.

Minimum of four years of experience working directly with students with disabilities in a higher education setting required.

Knowledge of federal and state laws related to providing disability accommodations in a university or college setting and in compliance with ADA and Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Knowledge of various diagnostic assessments commonly utilized to identify limitations experienced by individuals with disabilities preferred.

Knowledge of medical and health science education, including clinical and lab settings.

Strong verbal and written communication, analytical and organization skills.

Proven ability to evaluate and interpret disability documentation to implement reasonable accommodations. Ability to professionally and appropriately manage sensitive and confidential information.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively to largely diverse groups.

Understanding and experience with assistive and accessible information technologies, including best practices such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) preferred.
