The University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill the position of Accounting Associate for the College of Medicine MSP Office. Functioning under the administration direction from the supervisor, this position assists with and supports the coordination management and preparation of the business/financial and administrative operations of the University of Illinois Physicians Group (UIPG)/Medical Service Plan (MSP), to facilitate revenue generation and to control costs.

3 Positions Available

1. Coordinates, or assists with the coordination of, the preparation and design of accounting reports prepared on behalf of and used by senior administration for determining UIPG/MSP; financial allocations, and measuring revenue and expenses.

2. Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements including: Revenue and Expense Reports, Accrued Financial Statements, Cash Flow Statements analysis, expense reports, etc.

3. Interpret financial reporting and resolve financial data inaccuracies for: the 17 Clinical Departments, combined UIPG/MSP, the Managed Care and Campus Care Departments, and the regional campuses of: Rockford and Peoria and UI Health Plus (Medicaid, Managed Care Plan).

4. Coordinate, or assist with Coordination of, appropriate date distribution to the Director of Administrative Operations (DAOs), billing services, collection agencies and University Administration.

5. Enact policies and procedures to ensure timely and accurate data flow between the Clinical Departments, billing services and collection agencies and other vendors.

6. Enact policies and procedures that meet the strategic goals of the UIPG/MSP and University administration.

7. Coordinate, or assist with the coordination of, the budget process with all of the Clinical Departments, Managed Care and Campus Care Departments, and the regional campuses of: Rockford, Peoria, UI Health Plus (Medicaid, Managed Care Plan) evaluating the department budgets and analyzing actual to budget revenue and expenditures.

8. Coordinate, or assist with the coordination of, year-end audit and prepare advanced spreadsheet analysis for complex issues including accounts receivables management, GAAP and GASB compliance, and control issues.

9. Prepare advanced spreadsheet analysis for complex accounting and finance issues.

10. Liaison with DAOs to provide health care business process and accounting support.

11. Serve as a financial representative of the UIPG/MSP to communicate with other campuses, external organizations and auditors on behalf of the Clinical Departments.

12. Assist with conducting of contract negotiations and prepare financial sectors of proposals.

13. Represent the units on various internal/external committees as required of this position.

14. Apply advanced computer application skills to Business Objects, Banner, Eddie to obtain specific data needs.

15. Coordinate workflow with other business analysis and finance staff on various levels.

16. Assists with and supports the oversight of the Director of Finance

17. Participates in the development and implementation of Clinical Department progress, objectives and long-range planning.

18. Instruct staff on various computer applications and University related computer software applications including: Banner, Business Objects, View Direct, Eddie, Microsoft Office, I-Buy, TEM, P-Card, T-Card, etc.

19. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

1. (A) Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accountancy or a related field AND two (2) years of professional level accounting experience.

OR

(B) Possession of a current registration as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or a valid License to practice Public Accounting.

OR (C)

Master’s degree in Accountancy or a related field.

2. Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze complex financial data and queries by running Business Object reports. Advanced Excel Spreadsheet skills and ability to create and link high volume data and sophisticated formulas in Excel spreadsheets.

3. Medicaid and Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program experience and Medicaid and Medicare regulations.  This includes in-depth analysis of "Functional and Clinical Quality Measure" (CQM) data. 

4. Experience utilizing Banner and the associated Banner Forms to obtain and analyze data in the database enterprise.

5. Experience dealing with bank relationships, lockboxes and bank account reconciliations.

6. Proof of Illinois residency is required within 180 days of the hire date should an offer of employment be made in this classification title.
