The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System Mile Square Health Center is hiring a full-time Clinical Physician in Family Medicine at its South Shore clinic.

 

About Mile Square Health Center:

Originally established in 1967, Mile Square Health Center (MSHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and in 1 of 990, became a component of the UI Health.  Its clinics are staffed by health professionals from UI Health, a leader in research, clinical practice, outreach, and health care education. MSHC is the only public sector, academic FQHC in Chicago and one only a few in the nation. MSHC provides an array of services, including Family Care, Pediatrics, Women's Health, Mental Health, Optometry, Pediatric Dentistry, Cancer Screening, and Social Services

 

MSHC’s mission is to provide holistic, quality health care services to a diverse urban community with a continuing commitment to addressing the needs of the underserved.  MSHC consists of five primary care sites, including our newly opened 5-story, 104,900 sq. feet facility on the UI Health campus; five school-based health centers; and three nurse-managed sites that care for patients with severe mental illness and women with disabilities. Overall, 33 percent of service area residents live below the federal poverty level (FPL), compared to a 21 percent poverty rate for the city of Chicago as a whole.

Job Responsibilities:

Under administrative direction, independently perform physician examinations for a broad range of clients to diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and other disorders. Responsible for selecting and utilizing appropriate diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures for clients.

 

Position includes:

  • Examine patient and obtain medical history from patient, parents, guardians to prepare patient profile. Review developmental and medical history of patient.
  • Participate in diagnostic staffing to correlate findings, determine diagnosis and develop appropriate treatment recommendations.
  • Discuss findings and recommendations with client, parents, agencies, etc. as needed.
  • Responsible for medication management (includes but is not limited to writing prescriptions, monitoring efficacy, monitoring adverse reactions).
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine degree from an ACGME accredited medical college. 
  • Board certified, board eligible in required specialty, or a current resident (subject to the requirements of the GME Moonlighting Policy: http://tigger.uic.edu/com/gme/p_p_moonlighting.htm)
  • Unrestricted Illinois license to practice medicine or Illinois license eligible.
