The University of Illinois at Chicago, a member of the Horizon League who competes at the Division I level in 20 sport programs is accepting applications for the  position of Full Time (12 Month)  Head Varsity Coach – Men’s Basketball.  Candidate must have demonstrated coaching success at the collegiate or professional level. The primary function of the position is to develop, implement and promote a successful sport program in accordance with institutional and NCAA rules, policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coaching, training, access skills, recruitment, plan practice sessions, scheduling, monitor academics, and manage program budget.  

Coach and train members of the team during practices and competitions. Assess skills and instruct athletes on technique

Oversee and recruit prospective student-athletes. Identify, evaluate, contact and meet student athletes and parents. Set up campus visits and attend competitions to observe prospects.

Organize, plan and schedule daily practices and drills. Implement plan for game preparation; determine game strategy.

Collaborate with athletic staff and university faculty to monitor academic progress of student-athletes to ensure that athletic eligibility and academic standards are maintained.

Schedule competitions and develop travel plans and manage budget.

Develop and promote summer camps and clinics.

Participate in fund raising and alumni relations activities

Attend CPR and other safety classes arrange by Athletics and receive certificate

Adhere to all University, Horizon League and NCAA rules and regulations.

 

Bachelor’s Degree in sports management or education required. Master’s degree preferred

Direct Knowledge of NCAA rules and Regulations required

Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment

A minimum of five years of coaching experience

Strong interpersonal, management and communication skills
