The department of Oncology Services at University of Illinois Health and Science System is seeking to hire a Tumor Registrar 1. This position is reponsible for identifying, compiling, abstracting, coding and contacting all cancer patients for follow up activities. The Tumor Registrar 1 will assist in maintaining cancer patients data, interface with patients and outside providers, coordinate Tumor Board conferences and serve as a member of the Oncology Advisory Board Committee.The employee interacts with health care workers, physicians, patients and family members internally and externally to collect required data. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Health and Information Department.
Perform case finding of medical records to identify cases of malignancy through medical reports, summaries, autopsies and enters relevant data into the Tumor Registrar
Coordinate/Maintain the MultidiscplinaryTumor Board Conference;ensure the Clinical Staging form are provided to the physician and are retrieved. Submit the Clinical Staging form to Medical Records for scanning in the patient chart
Responsible for reporting Multidisciplinary Tumor Board conference attendance and cases presented to the Oncology Advisory Board
Respond promptly to all requests for individual cancer patient information form other Tumor Registries including the Illinois State Cancer Registry, and internal hospital departmental request
Actively participate in cancer educational programs/webinars for continuing education credits
Be familiar with policies and procedures manuals of the Tumor Registry and resource such as Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results Programs( SEER). Collaborative Staging manual, International Classification of Diseases for Oncology(WHO), American Joint Committee on Cancer(AJCC) cancer staging manual, Comission on Cancer Standards, Multiple Primary and Histology Coding Rules, and WHO Classification Tumors of Hematopoietic and Lymphoid Tissues
