UIC Flames Athletics is a NCAA Division I athletic program, sponsoring 300 student-athletes across 18 varsity sports. UIC will become the 12th member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) beginning with the 2022-23 academic year.

This position provides strategic leadership in implementing and administering a comprehensive whole person development and leadership curriculum for student athletes. This includes assessing student’s goals, interests and experiences to provide advising, resources, events and programs. Oversees eligibility, academic progress review activities and manage the Port Academic Center.

Academic Services and Student Development

• Manage the admissions process for all international student athletes, international student- 
athlete documentations and all international student-athlete programming.

• Serve as departmental liaison and contact person to admissions, student affairs and academic 
affairs departments to provide information and resolve issues and problems. Serve as liaison 
between students and faculty.

• Facilitate events and proper programming with other campus departments or resource departments.

•    Monitor academic and student-athlete development requirements set forth by the NCAA.

Report Generation

• Produce and submit required NCAA information and reports on academics, community service, career 
development and documentation of personal development educational efforts.

• Identify programing partnership opportunities and participate in the development of reports that 
will support expanded growth for student development initiatives.

Staff Management

•    Oversee academic center staff and interns.

•    Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met.  

• Hire, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.

• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

 

A Master’s degree in education, liberal arts, sport management or a related field required.

A minimum of 3 years work experience at a NCAA Division I institution in academics or student-athlete development.

Experience and direct knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.

Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct presentations to various audiences.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrated proficiencies in information technology.
