Academic Rheumatologist Outpatient - Medicine (Job ID #168001)

The Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP), seeks a rheumatologist for an outpatient position. Serve a medically diverse patient population as a full-time Rheumatologist. You will be at a state-of-the-art facility located in a community that has a strong need for Rheumatology services. This demand means that there will be plenty of career growth opportunities as you'll work to expand the practice and its services. Help an in-need patient population at an established practice and experience all that the Midwest has to offer from the charming city of Peoria, Illinois. Monday to Friday schedule; 8:00 am to 5:00pm.

Requirements for the position are an MD/DO degree or its foreign equivalent, rheumatology fellowship trained, eligible for medical licensure in Illinois, board certification or eligibility for certification in Rheumatology and eligible for medical staff appointment at university-affiliated hospital. Academic rank will be based on experience.

Travel may be periodically required between healthcare facilities or for professional development.  Malpractice insurance is provided by the University of Illinois system and an excellent benefits package available including vacation and sick time, CME health and life insurance and retirement plan.

Assistant/Associate/Professor of Clinical Medicine

  • Serve as rheumatology attending physician in a well-established outpatient clinic.
  • Perform or supervise the performance of patient care services to include history-physical examinations and reports, clinic visit notes and evaluations, and similar services that are customarily performed in a rheumatology clinic.
  • Participate in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs of the Department.
  • Collaborate with other attending physicians and consultants.
  • Participate in university and/or hospital committees.
  • Perform duties in a manner that complies with all applicable standards, rules, policies, and regulations of the hospital, University of Illinois, Joint Commission, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Mentor resident physicians and medical students.
  • Provide at least one Grand Rounds lecture yearly.
  • Provide lectures to residents, third and fourth year medical students.
  • Opportunity to participate in curriculum development with the Residency programs.
  • Opportunities to perform clinical research are available to the incumbent.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with resident physicians and medical students on research projects are available to the incumbent.
  • Research productivity is not a requirement of this position.  

Must possess MD or DO or equivalent degree.

Must be Rheumatology Fellowship trained.

Must be board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology.

Must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.

Must be eligible for medical staff appointment at university-affiliated hospital.
