The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford is seeking a part-time (one day per week) general dentist to perform dental related services in a Corrections enviornment at the Winnebago County Justice Center.  The College of Medicine provides a full spectrum of health care services in this facility including dental services.  

Correctional dentistry is a unique, challenging, and exciting opportunity for dentists because it allows you to provide patient care without the interference and barriers associated within a private practive.  This is the perfect opportunity to provide dentistry in a public health setting, while improving health outcomes.

  • Fixing or removing damaged teeth
  • Filling cavities
  • Performing exams and evaluating x-rays to determine a patient’s health
  • Administering or prescribing medications to decrease pain and improve patient health
  • Interacting with patients and instruct them on proper oral care
  • Measuring and fitting dental appliances
  • Referring patients to a specialist if needed 
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Dentistry Medicine (DDS/DMD)
  • Active and unrestricted Illinois dental license
