The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UlCOMP) Med-Peds Department is seeking a board­ certified or board-eligible Med-Peds physician for a full-time position as an outpatient Med-Peds physician.  This position will carry a dual appointment in the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Departments at UICOMP.

The position is as Assistant/Associate Professor or Professor. The ideal candidate will have completed 4 years of Med-Peds residency and be BC/BE in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. The position includes providing attending physician coverage at Heartland Health clinic.  This will include precepting in the Med-Peds residency continuity clinic, with an opportunity for teaching medical students and residents as a clinic preceptor.  In addition to academic responsibilities, the candidate will serve as attending physician for their own panel of patients on days when there is no resident clinic. 

Heartland Health services is an FQHC with 8 locations in Peoria, Illinois.  The academic Med-Peds continuity clinic is a joint venture between Heartland Health services and OSF Healthcare.  OSF Healthcare is UICOMP’s main clinical partner.  The applicant will join the Med-Peds Group as a core faculty for the residency program at UICOMP.  The Peoria Med-Peds program is one of the largest and most established in the country with 8 residents per year, and is known for combining innovative, state of the art clinical and educational programs with a resident-first, family friendly environment.  The program is seeking a Clinician Educator with an equal passion for high value, patient-centered clinical care and dynamic, evidence based resident education.  The Med-Peds group at UICOMP is a dynamic group of  academic inpatient and outpatient Med-Peds physicians who serve in various leadership, educational and clinical positions in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.  Candidates have an opportunity for research, scholarship, curriculum development, and leadership as desired within the Med-Peds group, as well as within both departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

In addition to providing academic and clinical services for the Med-Peds continuity clinic, applicants will also have access to the Jump Trading Simulation Education Center, a state of the art simulation facility with over 40,000 square feet of space for faculty and other resources.  JUMP is a joint venture between UICOMP and CHOI and is located on the OSF campus.  It is utilized for simulation based education for UME and GME, and interested applicants are able to design curriculum or participate in simulation education for UME and GME as desired.

Malpractice insurance is provided by the University of Illinois system and an excellent benefits package is available including vacations, sick time, CME, health and life insurance and retirement plan.

  • Provide attending physician coverage in the Med-Peds continuity clinic at Heartland Health Center.  This will include precepting in the Med-Peds residency continuity clinic, with an opportunity for teaching.
  • Serve as attending physician for their own panel of patients on days when there is no resident clinic in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs of the Department of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine.
  • Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student and resident mentoring, and administrative opportunities.
  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
  • Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine.
  • Successful completion of 4 years of Med-Peds residency.
  • MD/DO degree.
