The chief responsibility of the Staff Nurse I – Perioperative Scheduling and Pre-Anesthesia Clinic RN (SN1 – Surgery Scheduling & Anesthesia Clinic) is to elicit positive patient outcomes, ensure safe, quality patient care while promoting access, conscientious resource utilization and operational efficiencies in the anesthesia preoperative clinic and surgical suites. This is accomplished through perioperative care using best, evidence-based practices, patient/family/staff education, review of medical and financial clearances, multidisciplinary care coordination, effective multi-modal communication, and dynamic solution finding. This role acts as a resource for the perioperative team including: Surgical Clinics, Anesthesia Clinic, the Operating Room and ancillary teams.

 

Two (2) Available Positions. 

Four (4) years RN experience providing direct bedside care in a hospital setting with step-down level acuity or higher required.

Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, communication (verbal and electronic) and work history demonstrating effective solution finding required.

Experience in Perioperative or other Procedural Scheduling using a block allocation system and Call Center, phone-based patient triage preferred. Clinical chart review and abstraction experience preferred. Ability to build relationships and gain alignment for clinical support and be able to communicate discrepancies/conflicts and pose options for resolution preferred. Computer and Internet experience required including familiarity and comfort with MS Office products (Word and Excel required; Outlook required, PowerPoint and Visio preferred). This position requires ability to self-direct work, time-management, organizational skills and comfort with high volumes of email communication. Database data entry and/or management experience preferred. Basic statistical knowledge preferred. Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred.
