Lead and oversee Student Affairs Human Resources initiatives and counsel departmental units on human resources matters. Under minimal supervision prepares standard and customized reports for internal and external customers. Identify training resources and coach and counsel employees on a wide range of HR related matters.

  • Partner with Student Affairs Directors to both understand business strategy as well as develop, define, and align priorities to support the achievement of business goals.
  • Direct operations of assigned areas and provides guidance to HR operations staff.
  • Oversee salary structure adjustments, merit and incentive pay and equity programs, and designing, implementing communication strategies and ensuring compliance with guidelines.
  • Direct the continued development and administration of talent recruitment and tools to effectively manage recruitment, selection, hiring and on-boarding new employees.
  • Provide oversight and monitoring of annual Student Affairs Activity Reporting System (ARS), Report of Non-University Activities (RNUA), Employee Performance Reports (EPR), and Ethics Training.
  • Ensure the continued development and administration of professional and organizational development through training, coaching, and organizational review. Training consists of both instructor lead and on- line training for individual contributors and leaders.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of personnel and benefit transactions and oversee the maintenance and integrity of HR data.
  • Resolve complex issues involving conflicts between HR policies and practices and Student Affairs departmental management.
  • Participate in strategic planning and assessment in the development of HR goals and initiatives; oversee budget for assigned HR operations areas.
  • Conduct monthly Human Resource meetings with Student Affairs Directors and HR Managers to address changes and ensure compliance with UIC HR processes.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of Division policies and procedures related to HR operations areas.
  • Collaborate with UIC Human Resources team to effectively accomplish Division objectives
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Master’s degree in business, human resources, training and development or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of federal laws and university policies related to Human Resources.
  • In depth knowledge of Banner, Business Objects, HR Front End, Hire Touch, EDDIE and View Direct.
  • At least five years experience in human resources, financial management or information systems.
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills to work effectively with administrators from other university units (Human Resources, OBFS, Access and Equity, Risk Management) to achieve Student Affairs goals and maintain effective and efficient processes.
  • Ability to multi-task, delegate work and manage projects quickly and accurately.
