The Center for CardioVascular Research (CCVR) at the University of Illinois College of Medicine is seeking candidates with a strong scientific background and managerial experience to help coordinate the development, implementation, and dissemination of all research programs of the Center. A major emphasis of the program is growing the portfolio of collaborative, high-impact research programs.

1. Assist in the coordination and editing of collaborative NIH grants such as NIH multi-PI grants, NIH Project Program Grants, and NIH T32 training grants. This involves developing agendas and recording minutes of meetings with investigators leading up to grant submissions, assist in the assembly and submission of the grants.

2. Provide project management coordination for research grants involving multiple investigators to include personnel, facilities, and supplies in support of research project desired outcomes, budgets, and timeliness.

3. Assist in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies; work closely with the investigators and the Office of Research Services on the submission of new and renewal grant proposals.

4. Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance collaboration and direct resources across various research projects to ensure timely completion of project milestones.

5. Assist the Director of Administrative Operations in the preparation of budget proposals, initiate re-budgeting requests based on needs of research staff, and authorize expenditures for multiple projects. Attend research planning meetings to prepare budget drafts for approval by the Center leadership.

6. Prepare annual progress reports and applications for various committees and ensures that all staff has received the proper training/attended the appropriate training courses.

7. Maintain confidential records of collected data, ensures accuracy and integrity of data. Data may include patient data and CCVR programmatic data.

8. Prepare submissions and amendments of animal research protocols and human IRB protocols.

9. Assist on ad hoc projects related to CCVR research grants administration.

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

*     Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

*     Working knowledge of MS Office

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

PhD required with a major in life sciences.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Three years of working experience in a biomedical research setting is required. Prior experience with grant writing, grant management or regulatory protocols is also required.
