The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Pharmacy, founded in 1859, is currently ranked the #7 college of pharmacy in the nation (US News & World Report). The UIC College of Pharmacy is one college on two campuses, Chicago and Rockford.  The Rockford campus is part of the UIC Health Sciences Campus, including the Colleges of Medicine and Nursing, which leads to unique interprofessional educational opportunities. 

The College of Pharmacy seeks a College Recruiter who will be located on the Rockford campus. This dynamic person with an entrepreneurial spirit will recruit prospective professional and graduate students to our programs by developing & implementing integrated marketing, recruitment and yield strategies to meet the Rockford, Chicago and University enrollment goals. This highly visible position is responsible for performing targeted outreach to both internal and external constituencies, legislators, community leaders and organizations to establish / grow professional relationships with prospective students, parents, counselors and educators, high schools, and 2- and 4-year colleges through in-person/print, on-line and social media networking. 

 

This self-starter will seek out opportunities to engage and meet prospective students by traveling to local, state-wide, and national school events such as school/college fairs, community organizations, conferences, college day/night programs, etc., to promote various aspects of the college, including the Rural Pharmacy concentration (RPharm). The selected candidate serves as the primary point of contact for prospective students to respond to inquiries & concerns through various forms of communication, and provide pre-admission advice and counsel regarding admissions processes. This individual will develop and coordinate on-campus and virtual online programs for prospective students, assist with the colleges’ pipeline programs, and collaborate with the Urban Health Program (UHP) on recruitment efforts at HBCU’s and HSI’s. 

Working with our Office of Advancement the Recruiter will tap into Pharmacy alumni and friends for potential recruitment opportunities and assist/develop/maintain promotional and marketing strategies via social media networks, list serves, email blasts, video conferences/virtual career fairs, blogs etc. targeted to these constituencies. Another key job component will be to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, make recommendations for program changes and/or enhancements; prepare statistical reports, compile, assess and interpret student data, event outcomes, recruitment and market area trends, report findings to leadership/faculty, and develop a database of collaborative and/or recruitment opportunities. 

In addition, our Recruiter will represent the college and our programs at on-campus events, establish/maintain relationships with students/parents, counselors etc. to provide preadmission advice. Travel is expected.

  • A Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Higher Education, Health Professions, Communications, Marketing/public relations a plus 
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience required, preferably in higher education setting, student recruiting, admissions or graduate/professional advising, associated marketing or related field 
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are required. Public speaking experience and strong organization skills strongly preferred 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and sensitivity to working with diverse populations and demonstrable ability of an awareness and sensitivity to socio-ethnic and cultural communication styles 
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems, initiate and implement projects independently 
  • Frequent travel, with heightened travel requirements during peak recruiting seasons (Aug- Nov & Feb-April) locally, statewide, and nationally and the ability to travel overnight at least 60% of the time over designated recruitment territory (local and national) required. 
  • Strong knowledge of student development and academic programming. Working knowledge of university / college academic and financial policies, academic admissions and records policies and procedures highly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Blackboard required 
    Membership in the Illinois Association for College Admissions Counseling (IACAC), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and the Illinois Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (IACRAO) preferred.
