The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System is seeking to fill the position of  IT Manager/Administrative Coordinator (Manager, IS Education) for the Information Services department.

The Manager, IS Education will provide leadership and direct day to day oversight of the UI Health Information Services Education Management team responsible for the successful execution of all training activities. Responsibilities include the design, development, and delivery of training and developed programs that support employees and physicians who use the healthcare systems of UI Health. The Training & Education Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining activities within the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring training compliance, monitoring successful learning comprehension, creating and maintaining training materials, and identifying additional learning opportunities.

Learning & Development

  • Ensure the department’s short and long-term training plans remain aligned with the organizations objectives.
  • Provides coaching, direction, assessment and assists in the development of the training team.
  • Manage projects for the purpose of training, system setup, and support of clinical applications.
  • Design and conduct instructor led classroom training and create and implement web based training modules. Train physicians, nurses, registration staff, students and faculty in the science colleges on use of electronic medical records (EMR) and associated clinical systems through classroom instruction, one-on-one, videos, and facilitation of LMS modules.
  • Conduct needs assessments, plan, implement, and facilitate training; coordinate technical/system learning events, interdisciplinary documentation development, and trainer education.
  • Develop and maintain materials and coursework; update training manuals, create LMS modules and videos, and create quick reference training tools.
  • Successfully complete manager identified, required system training and certifications needed to support assigned applications within communicated timeframes.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
     

Staff Management

Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.

Required Experience

Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, maintaining, and managing healthcare information systems (e.g., Epic, PACS, billing, supply chain, utilization review, operating rooms, scheduling, diagnostic imaging, pathology, etc) to effectively apply information technology solutions to improve healthcare operations; ensure effective integration of clinical and revenue cycle systems with other institutional applications

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor degree preferred in a relevant discipline
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years progressively more responsible IT experience, of which a minimum of 2 years’ experience is in a Supervisory or Management capacity
  • Demonstrated experience within the designated discipline

 

This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor degree preferred in Business, Information Technology, Adult Education or related field.
• Demonstrated experience of systems training experience in a healthcare environment, and demonstrated understanding of major healthcare systems and applications –including electronic medical records. 
• Demonstrated experience within the designated discipline
• Demonstrated leadership and management experience
• Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and multiple training environments-classroom, computer based training, blended training.  
• Proficient in Adobe Captivate and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for the production of training materials.
• Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills; problem solving skills.
• Proficient communication skills (oral and written)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor that promote effective interaction with multi-disciplinary health care providers, academic departments, vendors, and others
