The Department of Pediatrics of the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) is seeking Neonatologists for multiple positions at our Level 2+/2 facility at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, IL. A hybrid position with some rotation with our primary care teaching facility is also possible. 

The ideal candidate will have a MD/DO degree or equivalent; be BC/BE in pediatrics and neonatology; and will hold or be eligible for an Illinois physician license. 

The position includes patient services, teaching medical students and residents and opportunities to pursue research.

The primary teaching hospital of UICOMP is the OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, a tertiary care facility serving a 37 county region with a population base of over two million. The 60-bed all-private room Level IV NICU at CHOI has been designated by the state as the Perinatal Referral Center for north-central Illinois. Services offered include high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, ECMO and most surgical subspecialties, including cardiac surgery.

We have approximately 800 NICU admissions and 2,500 deliveries per year. The NICU is staffed with Advance Practice Nurses and residents and call is taken from home. We are a part of the Vermont-Oxford Network and strenuous efforts to improve quality and safety are ingrained in our culture. We offer the medical sophistication of a major referral center and cultural diversity in a family oriented community.

Malpractice insurance is provided by the University of Illinois system and an excellent benefits package available including vacations, sick time, CME, health and life insurance and retirement plan.

  • Proven acute and ongoing consultative care to neonatal children with problems in the hospital and outpatient setting.
  • Participate in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs of the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Participate in collaborative research activities of the Division and Department.
  • Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and student counseling.

MD/DO or equivalent degree.

3 years residency.

3 years neonatal fellowship.

Illinois physician license.

Board certified or board eligible neonatology.

Proven excellence in clinical care and teaching.

Board certification in Pediatrics desirable.
