The UIC College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Instructor/Clinical Pharmacist who will be assigned to the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System’s Hospital Pharmacy Services Central Pharmacy working primarily on the evening shift.

Duties:

This position is responsible for the accurate and efficient review and verification of physicians’ medication orders, patient medication counseling, and works with health care providers and patients to resolve any medication issues. Responsibilities of this position also include ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met, directing the activities performed by pharmacy technicians, serving as a resource for the medical and nursing staffs for medication-related questions.  

Clinical Instructor academic responsibilities include the provision of didactic and clinical experiential teaching/training in the College of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy Program and precepting of PGY1 and PGY2 residents.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited PharmD program.  
  • Candidates must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist at time of employment.
  • Candidates must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position with the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Highly preferred strong clinical knowledge base including practice involving contemporary hospital pharmacy services; analytical and problem solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills; completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency; experience in the safe handling and preparation of IV admixtures and chemotherapy; and demonstrated compounding knowledge and skills.
