UI Health is seeking a full-time Clinical Psychologist for the Department of Surgery’s Bariatric Surgery program. The primary responsibilities for this position will involve providing assessment and intervention services for adult bariatric surgery candidates pre and post- surgical. Furthermore, this position will be viewed as a key member of a larger growing service with an increased emphasis on growing the bariatric surgery and clinical management of the obesity population. The position also comes with an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at the Assistant/Associate Professor or rank commensurate with experience, which also involves teaching and supervision of residents, psychology interns and other trainees.

  • Perform history and psychiatric evaluation including mental status
  • Evaluate, diagnose and provide care & consultation to adult patients with emotional and behavioral disorders including psychotherapy (individual, group [primarily individual therapy]), and behavior modification therapy.
  • Provides assessment and cognitive-behavioral and other evidence-based intervention services for adult bariatric surgery candidates.
  • Provide clinical supervision for trainees of psychology internship program; instruct faculty and trainees in Health Psychology and cognitive-behavior therapy techniques. Instruct trainees in administration and evaluation of psychological tests. Conduct testing and evaluation of patients.
  • PhD or PsyD in psychology with two (2) years of supervised experience in the health services.
  • Active Clinical Psychologist license in the state of Illinois preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, not required, but preferred.
