Hourly Research Specialist – Yoon Lab

 

The Dr. Sang-Oh Yoon lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine seeks a talented Hourly Research Specialist to actively participate in the execution of ongoing research projects focused on cancer biology. The University of Illinois at Chicago is an R1-level public institution hosting cutting-edge resources and facilities for biomedical research.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Order lab supplies and perform general laboratory maintenance, including organizing laboratory and maintaining laboratory equipment, stock, and inventories
  • Aid in preparing and implementing general laboratory maintenance protocols (e.g., safety, training, waste management, animal, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other investigators for research
  • Assist the PI in generating data, making figures, and manuscript writing/editing for grant applications, publications, and presentations
  • Perform cell and molecular biology research experiments such as cell culture, transfection, immunoblot (Western blot) analysis, plasmid prep, and cloning with plasmids

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field and a minimum of 1 year of research experience. Undergraduate research experience is also considered. The applicants must be passionate about cancer research, organized, and work efficiently in a collaborative environment. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
