The Access Services Resource Management Librarian is responsible for coordinating resource sharing, maintenance, and related services for the Daley Library, directly supervising library staff, and helping to design, implement, and monitor Access Services projects, innovations, and assessments to enrich operations and user services.

Responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of interlibrary loan and i-Share, course reserve, collection maintenance, and assistance with building operations. This position is responsible for coordinating with various Library departments and consortial borrowing partners to ensure seamless building and materials access and operations.

The Resource Management Librarian reports to the Head Librarian, Access Services Department at the Daley Library in Chicago.

This clinical track appointment includes the expectation that the faculty member will be actively engaged in the profession through research and service related to professional and scholarly interests. This may include contributions toward publications or presentations, and committee work at various levels. Expectations are further outlined in the norms for clinical appointments.   • Oversee Daley Library resource sharing operations (interlibrary loan, consortial borrowing and lending, course reserve, and media).
  • Provide direct and indirect supervision to department staff and student employees, including hiring, development, and evaluation.
  • Serve as representative to consortial partners (i.e. Greater Western Library Alliance) and participate in forward-thinking initiatives
  • Act as a liaison to other campus and library departments on collection issues and resource sharing needs.
  • Analyze and act on library usage trends, design workflows, and help to maintain internal controls and documentation for systems such as Alma, Primo, ILLiad, Rapid, Occam’s Reader, BScan, UPS Worldship
  • Serve as backup to the Head of Access Services to ensure continuity of department and Daley Library facility operations, including providing service to patrons, scheduling and monitoring collection and patron safety and security
  • Provide supervision for collection maintenance (stacks management and preservation), and collaborate on stacks projects, including working with a controlled digital lending environment 
  • Contribute to emergency preparedness efforts and implementation of emergency plans during weather related closures and other emergent situations
  • Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned
  • Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program by the start of employment
  • Supervisory experience and/or evidence of the ability to be an effective team leader who fosters an inclusive, efficient, and collegial workplace
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with collection maintenance, consortial borrowing, and/or interlibrary loan

Schedule

The Resource Management Librarian will occasionally need to work evenings or weekends. The incumbent will need to have the flexibility to occasionally adjust their schedule due to staff absences and when the library hours change during extended study hours, intercessions, and weather conditions.

Salary/Rank/Contract:

Salaries are commensurate with qualifications and experience; the minimum salary for a full-time twelve-month appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor is $50,000; 24 days of vacation; 12 days annual sick leave with additional disability benefits; 11 paid holidays; medical insurance (contribution based on annual salary; coverage for dependents may be purchased); two dental plans available; life insurance paid for by the State; participation in one of the retirement options of the Illinois State Universities Retirement System compulsory (8% of salary is withheld and is tax exempt until withdrawal); no Social Security coverage but Medicare payment required; this appointment is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois and UIC United Faculty Local 6456, IFT-AFT, AAUP.
