The Center for Research on Women and Gender (CRWG), at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is seeking a Senior Research Specialist. The Senior Research Specialist is an integral research staff member primarily working as a maternal health researcher on several women’s health related activities and grants including the Innovations to ImPROve Maternal OuTcomEs in Illinois (I PROMOTE Illinois) research project, funded by the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration. 

-Coordinate data collection and reporting for the program’s multiple activities. 

-Communicate with external partners across the state. 

-Prepare and disseminate program deliverables, including data reports and a state strategic plan. 

-Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and executive all aspects of the IPROMOTE program. 

-Work directly with the State of Illinois and other project partners to collect, process and analyze population data on maternal outcomes. 

-Select appropriate measures to track project outcomes and design a data collection system for reporting measures. 

-Interpret data and prepare results for dissemination to stakeholders and the internal project team. 

-Help to prepare a state strategic plan which serves to translate maternal health data into an actionable plan for the state of IL program and update annually. 

-Support statewide maternal health data collection, analysis, and interpretation of findings. 

-Monitor program developments and state and national policy efforts on an ongoing basis and propose and implement program changes as needed. 

-Support ongoing qualitative and quantitative program evaluation activities across multiple project components, including but not limited to, key informant interviews, survey development, and data analysis. 

-Use a variety of population health data sources to monitor Illinois maternal health indicators for changes over the grant period. 

-Provide administrative and analytic support to multiple special projects related to maternal and women’s health.  

-Coordinate and direct the work of lower-level research staff, including student research assistants. Guide and train lower-level researchers and students on methods and analysis related to the Center’s research efforts.  Supervise research assistants in the taking of Committee meeting minutes and preparing Committee deliverables.

 

 

 

 

-Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field 

-Minimum of 2-3 years of research experience in the field of maternal health and/or public health 

-Knowledgeable about current developments and research findings in women's and maternal health, able to evaluate their potential applicability to research and service programs, and able to adapt these findings for use in execution of new research and practice projects 

-Expertise with Microsoft Office 

-Proficiency with SPSS, SAS, R or other statistical software
