This position entails working with staff and faculty to develop programs geared towards LALS majors/minors, organize events (talks, workshops, etc.) for faculty and the broader community, and manage departmental communications.

50% FTE position (20 hours per week) 8/16/2022 - 5/15/2023

Position includes tuition and fee waiver (dependent on start date and if student is registered for 8 hours).

Some duties include:

Undergraduates Program

•           Developing professionalization workshops for undergraduates

            -           Writing resumes and cover letters

            -           Design your career series

•           Helping to develop an alumni board and run an alumnus learning series

•           Helping to develop student advisory board

•           Organizing monthly major meetings

•           Organizing LALS study hours

•           Helping to organize graduation events

Intellectual Programming

•           Helping organize writing workshops for faculty

•           Helping the Program and Community Activities Committee run our speaker series and other intellectual events

Communications

•           LALS newsletter

•           Promoting events

•           Maintaining website content

Other duties will be assigned as needed.

Must be UIC graduate student in the humanities or social sciences with knowledge of Latina/o and Latin American Studies or ethnic studies.
