Visiting Research Associate II – CHER

The University of Illinois Department of Medicine is seeking candidates for a Visiting Research Associate II position in the Center for Health Equity Research Chicago (CHER Chicago), a groundbreaking and inclusive hub of research and community partnerships focused on creating a world free of structural violence. The Center’s mission is to make transformative contributions toward the elimination of structural violence through collaborative community partnerships, innovative research, and development and growth of researchers.

The Visiting Research Associate II will support the day-to-day operations and support multiple research projects and program activities of the Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) under the supervision of the Center Director. 

This position will: 1) Support Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) Chicago research projects by collecting data, analyzing data, performing literature searches, providing research support to complete project aims; 2) Assist Research Scientists/Principal Investigators with their applications for federal or foundation grants and participates in publishing original research in peer reviewed publications along with assisting in grant writing and progress reports to funding agencies; 3) Adhere to research aims and supports to achieve sponsor objectives; 4) Collect, process, manage and analyze multiple data sets and grant information from cores and projects for reports, presentation and publications; 5) Coordinate tracking and evaluation activities for all programs and events such as conducting interview, data collection and REDCap; 6) Coordinate and participates in center meetings with multiple stakeholders and community engagement efforts to support community dissemination and sustainability (Town Hall meetings, stakeholder meetings, etc.); 7) Contribute material, prepares scientific reports and presentations and assists in the writing of research findings for papers, presentations and other documents; 8) Assist with regulatory support including protocols, evaluations and other materials for IRB approval, amendments and continuing review; 9) Assist in communications to funding agencies and internal and external stakeholders to support timely annual reports, and compliance with grant requirements; and 10) Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required, and a minimum of one-year related research experience. Knowledge of research concepts, practices and procedures.
