Visiting Research Associate I, All of Us Research Program

The University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking candidates for Research Associate I positions in the All of Us Research Program, a Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Study. The All of Us Research Program seeks to extend precision medicine to all diseases by building a national research cohort of one million or more participants who reflect the diversity of the U.S. All of Us is a participant-engaged, data-driven enterprise supporting research at the intersection of human biology, behavior, genetics, environment, data science, computation and much more to produce new knowledge with the goal of developing more effective ways to prevent and treat disease. As part of this dynamic team, the Research Associate I is involved in every step of data collection for this program. This role is responsible for recruitment and engagement; enrollment (participant education, informed consent, performing physical measurements and taking vital signs); and retention (computer-assisted telephone interviewing) activities.

As part of this dynamic team, the Research Associate I staff are point persons in recruiting and enrolling research participants into this historic program.

Duties:

Utilize communication skills to gain agreement from embers to participate in the research program; persistently forge trusting relationships and engage individuals not readily familiar with the research.
Support participants in completion of informed consent procedures and questionnaires on an iPad/mobile device.
Conduct the physical measurements component of the interview (including Height, weight, hip and waist circumference, and automated blood pressure) and biospecimen collection and processing.  
Work with clinical staff regarding participant flow operations. Follow IRB protocol as outlined by study.
Monitor project developments on an ongoing basis.
Enter data related to physical measures and biospecimen samples.
Maintain detailed records of results and prepare written reports.
Work with clinical and community liaisons on research.
Use the telephone and follow scripts to reach out to current and potential participants; this requires good oral communication skills in order to convey the importance of the research.
Responsible for other clinic-related duties such as preparing for the participant visits setting up and cleaning the exam rooms, entering data, performing data and equipment quality control checks.

Bachelors degree in social science or related field required

Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations.

Excellent communication skills

Knowledge of basic research concepts, practices and procedures

Ability to review and adhere to research protocols with great attention to detail

Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
