This position designs, promotes and delivers an evidence-based program for faculty development to support the needs of faculty and leadership at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford. The Director works with faculty to advance expertise in curricular design and teaching methodologies in Undergraduate Medical Education and Graduate Medical Education.

  • Collaborate with educational and administrative support units to achieve faculty development goals.
  • Design, build and implement an evidence-based faculty development program with needs specific to UICOMR.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in medical education, education technology, evaluation and faculty development in order to develop faculty and leaders at UICOMR.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and sessions.
  • Assist Department Chair, Clerkship and Program Directors in providing individualized faculty development plans for teaching effectiveness
  • Serve on committees related to position.
  • Serve as campus liaison in community and/or professional activities.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • A minimum of a Doctorate degree in Education, Healthcare Education or related field. (EdD, MD, PhD, DO) etc.
  • At least 3 years of higher education experience in teaching, coaching, or faculty development preferably in healthcare related field.
  • Knowledge of LCME and ACGME accreditation requirements as it applies to faculty development expectations preferred.
  • Experience with delivering training/instruction in a variety of formats (face-to-face, online, written, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of adult learning theory, educational technology, instructional approaches and assessment techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge of educational best practices within health sciences (clinical approaches, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Ability to transfer theory into practice, to reach a broad audience.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and implement strategies and goals across a dispersed campus system.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
