The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford is seeking an innovative educator with energy and commitment to medical student education for a 12-month, part-time 0.6 FTE faculty position. The selected individual will be the Associate Director, Doctoring and Clinical Skills (DoCS) course and primarily responsible for teaching and administering the DoCS course for M2 medical students, a fundamental course on history-taking, physical examination, clinical reasoning, and professionalism. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Director of DoCS course and must be interested in curriculum development, working collaboratively across the University of Illinois College of Medicine campuses which include Rockford, Chicago, and Peoria. 

  • Collaborate with Director of Doctoring and Clinical Skills Course at Rockford.
  • Participate in Cross Campus DoCS Planning meetings.
  • Design and update sessions with the DoCS 2 course.
  • Primary responsibility is communication with M2 class regarding DoCS 2 course and ensuring smooth implementation of all course events related to DoCS 2 course including physical exam workshops, lectures, mentor workshops, practices sessions, M2, and M2 OSCE.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Phase 1 curriculum to finalize the DoCS 2 course schedule in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Director of Phase 2/3, Simulation Coordinator, and DoCS Coordinator as needed.
  • Assist with Standardized Patient program activities to provide training of SPs for simulation and SP events and update scripts.
  • MD/DO or its Foreign Equivalent OR PhD in clinical or related field OR Physician Assistant/Associate OR APRN.
  • Primary or emergency care specialty is preferred
  • Extensive clinical practice experience preferred
  • Previous teaching experience in higher education, medical school courses is preferred but not required.
  • Experience teaching clinical skills to medical students is preferred but not required.
  • Must meet the criteria for the rank of Clinical Associate, Clinical Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor.
