This position is provides high level business development support to the Population Health Sciences Program (PHSP) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), OVCHA. This position assists with developing new business opportunities to guide strategic growth for the Institute for Healthcare Delivery Design (IHDD). This position works closely with the Director of the IHDD and assists the Institute’s leadership in selling its advising services, ensuring the success of the consulting process from initial contact through proposal development, contracting and project kick off. The Strategic Project Coordinator provides overall coordination for multiple business development opportunities, managing IHDD staff, content, tasks, and timeline for each opportunity in play and assisting IHDD leadership in prospecting and development of new leads.

• Create timelines for prospective client business development.

• Coordinate meetings between IHDD staff and prospective clients.

• In collaboration with Business Development Lead, create agenda and slideware for client meetings.

• Work with business development lead to create storylines for meeting decks that compel the prospect to work IHDD.

• Work with IHDD staff to collect content for slideware for business development meetings.

• Set up preparatory meetings as needed prior to client meetings.

• Take notes and action items during meetings and distribute as necessary. 

• Track action items for completion.

• In collaboration with Business Development Lead and IHDD, develop proposals, staffing models and timelines for potential projects.

• Manage iterations of proposals until final draft is complete.

• Work with IHDD operations to move proposal to contract.

• Develop templates as needed for business development that can be used to make business development work more efficient.

• Maintain a business development pipeline spreadsheet / reporting document.

• Develop and manage contractor and talent pool for IHDD and maintain a contractor pool spreadsheet / reporting document.

• Network on behalf of IHDD (outreach, hosting events, giving tours).

• Manage meetings and follow up tasks between potential talent and IHDD staff.

• As the probability of converting business development leads into projects grows, work to identify IHDD staff and contractors who can staff the projects. Secure needed resources. 

• Work with IHDD operations to get contractors processed through HR and track their timelines.

• Facilitate partnerships across various resources, including clients, project teams, designers, vendors, and external collaborators.

• Verify and address changes in project scope, schedule, and cost and ensure capacity for the operationalization of changes.

• Provide ongoing assistance to the IHDD staff in prioritizing project related tasks.

• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. 

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

Master's degree in a related field (e.g., MDes, MPH, MBA) preferred.

A minimum of three years of professional level project management or business development experience.

Previous management-level experience in selling consulting work (pitching, estimating, staffing, etc.) is desirable.

Experience in a client-facing role is desirable.

Ability to navigate complex relationships across the health system, and assist other team members and customers as necessary.

Capable of communicating with a wide variety of audiences, ensuring understandability for all stakeholders.

Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting preferred.

Skilled in identifying opportunities for new revenue generation and improving efficiency of advising operations.

Problem-solving ability, including the ability to analyze complex situations, identify resources, and imagine alternatives.

Time management skills with the capability to prioritize among multiple requests from multiple individuals and the ability to change direction in response to a fluctuating work environment.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

High personal work standards and sense of urgency about results.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and build relationships across multiple stakeholder groups and various levels of the organization.

Ability to effectively lead a team through changes.
