The function of this position is to provide support to labs within the following locations in Illinois: Rockford, North Chicago, and Springfield. The incumbent of this position will be able to assist with our COVID-19 molecular testing section at our clinical laboratories within the following locations in Illinois: Rockford, North Chicago, and Springfield. The function requires an individual that is able to follow standard operating procedures, take direction easily, and have a focus on maintaining a safe and effective laboratory.

 

-      The team lead to ensure all below and that the lab processors understand the same.
 
- Proper and safe handling of infectious substances
- Identify and check-in saliva samples 
- Assist and maintain stock of laboratory supplies
- Remove laboratory waste and packaging for safe disposal
- Clean and disinfect laboratory spaces and equipment
- Unpack laboratory supplies and remove supply boxes from the laboratory
- Provide proper documentation for the Lab General Supervisor to review
- Take direction from the Lab General Supervisor and Medical Lab Scientists in the clinical molecular laboratory
- Clean and disinfect laboratory spaces and equipment
- Unpack testing supplies
- Remove packaging and waste from the laboratory 
- Uphold a safe work environment by wearing required PPE
- Handle bodily fluids that may contain COVID-19 safely
- Any other duties or responsibilities, as assigned
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  1. possession of qualifications established for the specific program for which the candidate is applying
  2. eligibility for employment under the provisions of the Statute and Rules governing the State Universities Civil Service System of Illinois

 

 

Required:
-High School Diploma
 
Preferred: 
- Interest in a career in Healthcare, Science, Medical Lab Science, or Molecular Biology
- Some coursework in Molecular Biology
