This position manages the University’s day-to-day housing administrative, residential life and facilities operations including fiscal management for department budget; ensuring efficient operations and programming; crisis intervention and problem solving; and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards, and laws.

  • Provide direction for all functions of campus housing including administration, residence life and facilities (in collaboration with the director).
  • Develop, implement and interpret policies and procedures for housing operations.
  • Assist in planning Campus Housing annual budget in collaboration with Director and Student Affairs Finance. Monitor progress through the development of reports and financial analysis.
  • Serves as the Housing liaison to key departmental collaborators including Capital Programs, Human Resources, Financial Aid, Disabilities Services, Admissions, Dining Services, Dean of Students, UIC Global among other emerging needs.
  • Manage departmental tenant leases and negotiate contracts in accordance with UIC Purchasing guidelines and practices. This includes all RFP’s, contracts and MOU’s with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Execute internal and external audits towards compliance in accordance with State and University rules and procedures. Oversee departmental card purchasing program.
  • Oversee the management and resolution of complex problems with students, parents and staff.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information and oversee a schedule of regular program assessment.
  • Create an atmosphere that incorporates student learning and development theories to provide exceptional customer service within all Campus Housing staff teams.
  • Lead educational programing in the residential areas including oversight for the Faculty in Residence program, Living Learning Communities, collaborations with academic departments and First Year initiatives.
  • Lead strategic planning processes to brand Campus Housing to promote the department’s programs and services while creating robust communities and optimizing occupancy.
  • Plans, assigns and reviews work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hires, trains, develops and manages staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Business Administration or related field.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant work experience in university or other housing operations.
  • Strong financial, analytical and budgetary skills including demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication and intrapersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with departments, employees, managers at all levels of the internal organization and external constituencies.
