The Moore Lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago (moore.lab.uic.edu) is searching for a postdoctoral research associate in synthetic medicinal chemistry. The position will be available in early 2022, pending funding approval. The successful applicant will contribute to ongoing projects in small molecule and peptide chemistry focused on cancer and infectious diseases. 

 

  • Carry out organic syntheses (including peptide syntheses) for the preparation of synthetic intermediates and novel small molecules 
  • Purify organic molecules using chromatography and other techniques
  • Characterize small molecules using analytical techniques (e.g., NMR, MS, etc.)
  • Keep records in laboratory notebook 
  • Write technical reports, manuscripts and patent applications
  • Conduct literature searches 
  • Assist in mentoring junior researchers
  • Comply with University & Department safety policies
  • Maintain supplies, instrumentation, and other lab duties as assigned
  • Ph.D. Degree in medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, peptide chemistry, chemical biology, or a related field
