Ten (10) Positions Available

UI Health Occupational Therapy Department is seeking to hire up to ten (10) Extra Help Occupational Therapists with experience in adult acute care and/or behavioral health settings.  Guaranteed weekend/holiday hours, and additional potential for weekday and evening hours.  Minimum requirement is one weekend day per month with additional contribution around one summer holiday and one winter holiday for a minimum of 14 days per year.   Weekday/evening hours are often additionally available, and some preference will be given to candidates with additional availability. 

Medical services covered may include orthopedic, stroke, neurology, cardiology, medically complex, ICU, oncology, psychiatry, and general medicine.  Behavioral health services are provided in locked inpatient unit for patients with a variety of conditions.

Work experience in at least one of these settings (adult acute care or adult inpatient hospital behavioral health) is required, and experience in both is appreciated.

Collaboration, flexibility, self-directed learning, and positive communication are essential in this position.   Strengths in early mobilization/ICU competency, bilingual skills, and interest/experience working diverse populations are all highly desired.

Successful applicants may work only in acute care, only in behavioral health, or potentially in both settings, based on experience and availability.

Provide professional therapy services in accordance with the standards established by the professional association and other relevant regulatory requirements. Supervise Occupational Therapist students. 

Complete administrative and regulatory tasks required as an employee of the UI Health and for practice as a licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Illinois.  

Other related duties as assigned.

(Alternative productivity expectations may be determined within this classification based on fluctuating needs of the department)

1.  Licensure or Eligibility for licensure as a registered occupational therapist by the State of Illinois under the condition that they have been issued a letter of authorization from the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) allowing them to practice under supervision
