Job Summary:

UI Health is seeking a Payroll Specialist III to join the UI Health Human Resource Payroll Team.  The Payroll Specialist III is responsible for the bi-weekly payroll processing for the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics in accordance with University policies and all federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Key Resonsibilities:

  • Answers telephone or in person inquiries about basic payroll information or procedures Prepares as needed reports from time and attendance system.
  • Reviews payroll reports for compliance with policies and procedures
  • Process adjustments via RT system, BANNER system and Time & Attendance system
  • Serve as primary contact for issues related to payroll processing
  • Research and analyze discrepancies and process appropriate corrections. Process adjustments and personnel change requests.
  • Provides information, assistance and training to employees, staff departments; provides technical and procedural assistance to staff and trains on payroll policies and procedures; answers employee and staff questions during payroll editing and check processing periods
  • Completes bi-weekly two-day process for CALC; gathering hours from Time & Attendance system, making corrections and sending complete payroll file to campus payroll for payment
  • Conducts bi-weekly and end of year audits of benefit hours
  • Compile and update weekly separation and transactional change reports
  • Represents Hospital payroll department in Hospital meetings regarding payroll practices and procedures
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

  1. Possession of credential requirements listed for the Payroll Specialist I (Level II)
  2. One year of work experience performing duties comparable to those listed in the Payroll Specialist I

OR
One year of vocational training in a related business curriculum (such as accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or management sciences)
OR
6 semester hours in a related business curriculum (such as accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or management sciences)
OR
15 semester hours in any field
OR
Any combination of the above totaling one year
