The Department of Pediatrics of the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) seeks Child Abuse Pediatrics candidates for multiple positions. Consideration will be given to candidates with strong interest and knowledge in child abuse pediatrics. The candidate must hold an MD/DO degree, be BC/BE in Pediatrics and will hold or be eligible for an Illinois physician license. BC/BE in Child Abuse Pediatrics is preferred. As a faculty member, you would be providing clinical care, teaching medical students and residents, research and scholarly activities. We provide the medical sophistication of a major referral center, as well as cultural diversity in a family-oriented community with a reasonable cost of living.

The primary teaching hospital of the UICOMP is the OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of Illinois (CHOI), a tertiary care facility serving a 46 county region with a population base of over two million. CHOI is a major medical facility with 144 beds, 32-bed critical care unit and the only Level l trauma center in Illinois outside of Chicago and is Magnet Certified. CHOI provides comprehensive services to children, including Level IV NICU and a state-designated Pediatric Critical Care Center. We have 140+ Specialists, Pediatrics Residents, Med/Peds Residents and multiple Pediatric fellowship programs.

We are currently in a state of growth and expansion both in terms of staff and clinical space. We have a 26-year history of collaborative relationships with child protective services, law enforcement, state's attorney's offices, numerous CAC's and other community stakeholders. You have the opportunity to pursue areas of academic or clinical interest in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services (inpatient and outpatient).
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents and other health professionals.
  • Conduct clinical and/or basic research in the field of Child Abuse Pediatrics.
  • Provide court testimony.
  • Provide consultations for multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in local, regional or national child abuse activities.

Malpractice insurance is provided by the University of Illinois system and an excellent benefits package is available including vacations, sick time, CME, health and life insurance and retirement plan.
