RN Duties

~~The Extra Help Staff Nurse 1 for the Transplant Program is a Registered Nurse with experience and knowledge of outpatient transplantation and living solid organ donation.  The Extra help staff nurse 1 rotates to the nursing assignment of need within the outpatient transplant department. Practicing under the supervision of transplant surgeons and physicians, the extra help staff nurse 1 ensures coordination of the clinical aspects of transplant recipients and living donor care throughout the pre and/or post-transplant phase.
Providing the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The extra help staff nurse 1 provides patient care and education. The extra help staff nurse 1 strives to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the extra help staff nurse 1 participates in monitoring, developing, and evaluating nursing practice while fulfilling unit and organizational goals.
The extra help staff nurse 1 reflects the mission, vision, and values of the University of Illinois Hospital, adheres to the organization 's Code of Ethics, Compliance Programs, all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

 

~~• RN license required.
• Two (2) years of RN experience required
• BSN or other bachelor’s degree required
• Previous Transplant Coordinator experience preferred.
• Previous Transplant or organ specific experience preferred
• Spanish-Speaking preferred – UI Health services a large Spanish-Speaking population.
• Transplant or Nephrology Certification required (may obtain within 2 years of employment)
• Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
