The University of Illinois College of Medicine invites applications for the position of Director of College of Medicine Research Administration, Shared Service Center.   

The Director of the College of Medicine Research Administration, Shared Service Center (COMRSSC) will be responsible for the leadership and operational management of the College of Medicine’s Research Shared Services Center. The COMRSS will provide comprehensive high-quality sponsored programs administration to principal investigators in COM. The Director will manage all staff, ensure compliance with all grant agency and University policies and procedures, and serve as a senior advisor to COM leadership.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; strategic planning and operations, advising on research funding opportunities to augment areas of research excellence in the COM strategic plan; design, implement, and monitor the Service Level Agreement (SLA) which outlines the sponsored project administration services and billing structure for COMRSSC; establish goals to measure and evaluate operational efficiencies of the COMRSSC; review current grant policies to ensure sponsored program management compliance; responsible for the oversight of all financial operations of the COMRSSC; develop, implement, and enforce COMRSSC administrative policies and procedures for pre and post award management; supervise pre award activity including proposal development, just in time submission, award acceptance & modification, and coordinate annual progress submission; supervise post award activity; oversee annual audits and agency site visits for sponsored projects; lead training initiatives for faculty to provide current updates on changes to sponsored projects policies and procedures.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Economics or a related field required; Masters degree preferred.  Must be a Certified Research Administrator (CRA).  A minimum of five years experience with grant and sponsored programs management in an academic setting. Ability to prioritize complex tasks in a deadline driven environment.  Strong financial, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.  Strong critical thinking skills coupled with independent judgment, discretion, and advanced oral and written communication skills.
