The mHealth Innovation Lab in the Department of Biomedical and Health Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago seeks a graduate hourly student to assist with the conduct of a NIH-funded clinical trial at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System. The trial aims to test the feasibility and efficacy of a digital health intervention in patients with chronic heart failure.

Patient screening and enrollment

  • Reviewing medical records to identify potentially eligible patients for recruitment
  • Approaching patients in the hospital or outpatient clinics for recruitment and enrollment/consent
  • Assisting the research team with participant recruitment strategies
  • Analyzing retention rates and executing plans to retain study participants
  • Maintaining detailed records of patient interactions/encounters

 

Study orientation, baseline and follow-up assessments

  • Performing study orientation and patient training sessions
  • Administering surveys and interviews according to established protocols
  • Preparing reports for the research team and appropriate agencies and grant sponsors
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or health science-related field is required
  • CITI Human Subjects Research (HSR) and Information Privacy and Security (IPS) Training
  • Previous research experience with human subjects is preferred.
  • Experience in using EPIC (existing user account with UI Health’s medical record is preferred)
  • Experience with medical terminology, particularly with respect to heart failure
  • Experience in using REDCap for data collection
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work as a member of a project team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Requires excellent communication, organization, presentation and computer/pc skills.
