Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services, a Unit of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy, is seeking a Clinical Instructor/Clinical Pharmacist to join the Ambulatory Pharmacy Services Team.  The practice site for this staff pharmacist position is at the Mile Square Pharmacy, which is located on the first floor of the Mile Square Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).  Our mission is to provide quality health services and promote disease prevention to all in the community.

Mile Square Health Center Pharmacy is open to serve its patients Monday through Friday. This pharmacy is looking for a full-time team player who possesses strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrates flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment, exhibits excellent time management and organizational skills, and is committed to excellent patient care.

Clinical Pharmacist responsibilities include staffing to support the day to day outpatient pharmacy operations and offering clinical pharmacy services to patients of Mile Square Health Center. Evaluating medication orders for accuracy, contraindications, and drug interactions, maintaining inventory levels, managing the pharmacy staff workflow, and assigned tasks are also important daily responsibilities. Staff pharmacist responsibilities also include ensuring the quality and safe preparation of medications to the assigned patient and completing assigned projects to ensure complex operational activities are met in a timely and efficient manner in the absence of the pharmacist-in-charge. 

Clinical faculty responsibilities of the position include the provision of didactic and clinical experiential teaching/training in the College of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy Program.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a professional pharmacist in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a pharmacist in a retail/outpatient pharmacy setting
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy PharmD program
  • Candidate must  possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position (at the rank of Clinical Instructor) with the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Knowledge to resolve medication related problems and insurance issues
