We are seeking a full-time educator to serve as our Health Disparities Course Director. The University of Illinois College of Medicine is comprised of three campuses (Chicago, Peoria, Rockford), and our curriculum is developed collaboratively among content experts on each campus. The successful candidate will serve as Rockford’s Course Director of at least one of the courses in the preclinical medical curriculum. The candidate will be responsible for working individually or as part of a multi-campus team to develop, enhance, coordinate, and deliver course content within their expertise (Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health). The candidate will also help teach and lead our Health, Illness, and Society (HIS) curriculum, which is taught concurrently in the preclinical courses. HIS topics include lifestyle medicine, population health and vulnerable populations, and health humanities.

The selected individual will also have administrative responsibilities, including coordination with other course directors and faculty across the medical curriculum, generation of appropriate assessment items, and implement data-driven curriculum enhancements. The successful candidate will be interested in curriculum development and working collaboratively with talented educators across the University of Illinois College of Medicine campuses.

  • Teach and organize the Health, Illness, and Society curriculum and other content related to the candidate’s expertise and experience
  • Course Director at Rockford campus
  • Collaborate with Course Directors and faculty across UICOM for seamless delivery of content to students
  • Work with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to help implement Anti-Racism Curriculum (ARC) at the Rockford campus
  • MD/DO or its foreign equivalent, Ph.D., or PsyD.
  • Preference for Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, Public Health, or related field
  • Preference for significant work or research experience with vulnerable and historically disadvantaged populations
  • Previous experience teaching in higher education, medical school courses preferred.
