The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice seeks two unique Clinical Faculty/Clinical Pharmacists to join our Antithrombosis Clinic (ATC) team to provide quality patient care and support two NIH-Funded Clinical Trials on COVID-19 Antithrombotic Therapy (ACTIV-4b and 4c) by participating in the Research Communication Center (RCC) for the trials.? Clinical Pharmacist responsibilities include providing comprehensive medication management to patients seen at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) on-site outpatient Antithrombosis Clinic. Responsibilities also include establishing patient-pharmacist relationships; creating, recommending and implementing comprehensive individualized evidence-based therapeutic plans; nurse, physician, and pharmacy staff development; coordinating and conducting quality initiative and research projects; and developing collaborative treatment protocols. 

Research responsibilities for these two trials involve serving as part of the pharmacist escalation pathway for enrolled patients in both studies.  This involves providing phone support to study participants to answer study-related questions, triage patients needing further escalation when they have reached study endpoints, and recording information on electronic case report forms.  Responsibilities with ACTIV-4b will also involve serving as a central enrollment site and securing informed consent for new study participants by telephone.

The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well.

 

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited PharmD program and PGY1 residency experience required.
  • PGY2 residency or 2-3 years equivalent experience in Ambulatory Care is also required.
  • Candidates must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist at time of employment.
  • Completion of IRB training required for engagement with the ACTIVE studies
  • Highly preferred strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Previous research experience is desired
  • Teaching and/or precepting experience preferred
  • Academic Rank commensurate with experience
