The Optical & Photoacoustic Imaging Research and Analysis (OPIRA) Laboratory is a research laboratory dedicated to the development of novel biomedical imaging technologies to explore vascular biology and cancer. We are looking for motivated researchers with interest in study vascular biology and cancer using photoacoustic imaging and optical coherence tomography. Prior research experience in relevant area (imaging or vascular biology) is a plus.

 

 

 

A 2-years postdoctoral position is available to study vascular biology and cancer using imaging modalities such as photoacoustic imaging and optical coherence tomography. The responsibilities include design appropriate experiments to draw meaningful conclusions on the progress of a disease based on the tissue vascular pattern. This project is hosted by the Biomedical Engineering Department at UIC, collaborating with UIC Medical School, Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Michigan and Harvard Medical School

Due to NIH restrictions, to be eligible fellows must be US citizens or Permanent Residents.

Requirements include:

(a) a PhD in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or Biomedical Physics;

(b) a strong background in design of biological experiments;

(c) proficiency in a programming language;

(d) ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment;

(e) experience with photoacoustic imaging and optical coherence tomography is a plus. The successful candidate will be expected to publish significant research findings and must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
