This position will develop, implement and ensure compliance with Title II, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504, and other Equal Opportunity laws at the State and Federal levels and University policies. With independent judgment and discretion, assists with campus regulatory compliance efforts including providing training and outreach; receiving and investigating complaints of discrimination and harassment to determine violation(s) of university polices; making recommendations for findings and resolutions; assisting in the implementation of protocols and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and University policy. Handle claims with sensitivity, neutrality, and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. Manage complex workload and meet various deadlines.

• Investigate Title IX and related complaints, on both an individual and systemic basis, including conducting the investigation and providing interim measures and remedies.

• Assist with the implementation and review of policies, procedures, and as they relate to Title IX; maintain and monitor data related to Title IX complaints. Write detailed reports and findings of investigations.

• Investigate employee and student complaints of unlawful discrimination and harassment under Title VII, IHRA, ADAAA, including planning investigations, conducting interviews, identifying and collecting relevant documentation, and analyzing evidence; serve in an advisory role to supervisors, managers, and department heads across campus on matters involving discrimination, harassment, and accommodations.

• Provide written responses to various agencies, including but not limited to Verified Responses, Position Statements, Requests for Information, and provide in-depth analysis of cases for University purposes. Consult with other departments as needed. Provide remedies for appropriate resolutions.

• Analyze accommodation requests for employees based on disability, pregnancy, or medical condition and provide guidance to units for the accommodations. Manage database. Collaborate on student requests for accommodations and provide guidance to Accommodations committees as needed.

• Train faculty, staff, and students on Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and Section 504.

• Draft policies and procedures related to institutional equity and provide input on drafts from others.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related administrative, business, liberal arts, or social sciences discipline required. Master’s Degree or Juris Doctorate is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience conducting investigations and collecting and analyzing evidence to reach a conclusion. Research and analysis and analytical writing experience required.
  • Experience in a Higher Education environment or at a public institution preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Section 504, Title II, Title VII, Title IX, civil rights, affirmative action, and equal opportunity laws and regulations required.
  • Previous experience in working on cases with OCR, EEOC, and IDHR preferred. Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred.
  • The ability to multi-task, train and advise students and employees at all levels, and use independent judgment. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills and ability to work effectively with a range of diverse persons at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office Suite.
