Employees in this position coordinate program-related business activities, other advising interactions, and assist with the marketing and communication efforts of the Honors College. They will provide support to internal and external parties by providing information or direction and/or facilitating communications for those interested in the Honors College. This person will assist with the schedule of activities, processing and preparation of documents and monitor a variety of activities that provide support to the Honors College mission.  Communicating with tact, accuracy and courtesy is a critical component of this position. They must be attentive to detail and be able to maintain effective working relationships with all those that have interactions with the college.

  • assists with the coordination of a variety of projects, functions and/or program components (e.g. meetings, events, travel and accommodations, etc.) for the purpose of completing activities and/or delivering services in a timely fashion for the Honors College.
  • assists with the preparation of a variety of documents (e.g. correspondence, agendas, minutes, event programs, bulletins, reports, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information and/or creating documentation in compliance with established guidelines.
  • assist with scheduling a wide variety of activities (e.g. appointments, meetings, travel reservations/accommodations, facility usage and repair, etc.) for the purpose of making necessary arrangements for assigned administrator and school personnel.
  • assists with providing direction to the Honors College communication interns and helps make decisions in directing the College’s social media efforts to enhance our web presence.  Assists with maintaining internal and external communications; guides interns in the production of live social media coverage of events; stays current on social media and recommends changes in social media strategy.
  • assists with providing direction for the Honors College branding campaign, visual branding and online digital presence.
  • may serve as the liaison with the Development Office.
  • provides support to Assistant Dean and other Deans as necessary performing professional support tasks.
  • provides program knowledge and expertise of procedures, technical specifications, and developments related to the field; pursues professional development activities to expand knowledge and maintain currency.
  • interviews and assesses the needs of clients who are enrolled or referred to the program.
  • develops materials and techniques for training program staff in such areas as the relationship of a designated program to the university, program design, philosophy, program policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • compiles and analyzes data and information, evaluates, and summarizes findings.
  • assists director, administrator or other senior staff in formulating policies, based on judgment and expert knowledge of a particular area.
  • represents and coordinates working relationships of the unit on various committees, teams or peers related to the specialized area; acts as a liaison to campus, agency and community groups, other skilled specialists throughout the state and nationwide; serves as a resource person and referral agent.
  • coordinates the logistics and activities for specific programs.
  • participates in the hiring, training, supervising, and/or evaluating of assistants and program staff as required.
  • schedules, assigns, reviews and/or provides recommendations regarding work within the program.
  • other duties as assigned.
  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Educational background/experience in Marketing, Management, Communications, Business Administration for Operations, or related field preferred. 

 

Skills and Experience

  • Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; business telephone etiquette; concepts of grammar and punctuation; and office practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with all platforms of social media and web presence.  Experience with communication efforts and branding preferred.
  • Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans.
  • Communicating with diverse groups; displaying tact and courtesy; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; being attentive to detail; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.
  • Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding and/or coordinating others.
