A postdoctoral position is available in the Translational Stem Cell Transplant Laboratory, in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago. 

The focus of the lab is in translational research in the area of blood and marrow transplantation with an overall goal to develop innovative therapeutics for hematologic malignancies. The lab has 2 current focuses: 1) Investigating the mechanisms of interaction between hematopoietic stem cells and alloreactive T cells upon transplantation by using a xenograft model of co-transplantation of hematopoietic CD34+ cells and T cells with an ultimate goal of inducing immune tolerance and allowing HLA disparate transplant (PI: Damiano Rondelli, MD);  2) Translational studies of DNA damage repair inhibition to overcome alkylator resistance and develop novel pre-transplant conditioning therapy for hematologic malignancies (PI: Pritesh Patel, MD).

 

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply: 1) strong self-motivation, 2) first author publications, 3) ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines, 4) good communication skills (writing and oral) and ability to collaborate with others, 5) experience in cell culture, western blot, RNA and DNA isolation, immunomagnetic cell separation, qPCR, in vitro cytotoxicity assays, flow cytometry, T cell immune function assays and ELISA are preferred. In addition, previous experience with mouse models is also preferred.

Applicants must be within the first four years of receiving their M.D. or Ph.D to be eligible.
