The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is looking for one Research Specialist to join the Kazlauskas Laboratory.

The Research Specialist will assist other lab personnel in ongoing research projects.  In addition, this individual will be responsible for maintenance of the laboratory, which includes ordering and re-stocking supplies.  Finally, the Research Specialist will be expected to take on an independent research project that complements the laboratories overall research goals. 

Research

  • Ordering and restocking lab supplies
  • Mastering lab skills that include tissue culture, Western blot analysis, biochemical and molecular techniques
  • Application of such lab techniques to ongoing and new research projects
  • Participation in lab meeting to present research findings

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required. Master’s degree in science preferred.

A minimum of 3 years related research experience.

Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.

Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
