To perform role in providing patient centered service and satisfaction for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department as well as maintaining financial responsibility for collections and accounts receivables.  Also, to monitor the accuracy of patient accounts including but not limited to patient demographics and insurance information.

 

  • Follows patient check in/out procedures ensuring accurate input of information including patient demographics, insurance and other patient care necessary information into the clinical software Axium.
  • Responsible for the review and collection of patient balances
  • Post patient account payments via, phone, or personal interaction from either the patient or a third party payer to the patient’s account.
  • Reviews patient insurance, communicates eligibility, benefits and coverage to patients including limitations, co-pays, deductibles, plan exclusions and patient responsibility.
  • Assists with scheduling of OMFS referrals vai Healthview X
  • Assists with Accounts Receivables ensuring outstanding insurance and patient balances are worked timely
  • Performs necessary actions prior to patient check-in including but not limited to patient information verification, medical and dental insurance verification and collection of payment.
  • Responsible for daily cash handling, including end of day reconciliation.
  • Assists with scheduling appointments via in person or over the phone
  • Provides excellent customer service to patients
  • Serves as the primary contact for patient questions
  • Responsible for reviewing patient treatment plans, verifying insurance coverage, explaining insurance benefit breakdowns and patient responsibility
  • Conducts analysis on complex patient accounts
  • Coordinates medical readiness by facilitating request of recent H& P notes, labs, imaging, etc. from primary care and specialists
  • Assists in financial readiness prior to surgery, ensures all deductibles, copayments and coinsurances have been collected.
  • Responsible for sending out clinic letters in accordance per the OMFS clinic policies
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school graduation or equivalent.
  2. One year (12 months) of experience comparable to that performed at the Dental Clinic Clerk I level of this series https://www.sucss.illinois.gov/pages/classspec/ViewSeries.aspx?tblCS_SeriesID=103
  3. Bilingual - Must be fluent in Spanish, able to read, write and speak Spanish.

 

Working Conditions:

(Fast paced) clinic environment. (Some stress may occur) Regular travel not expected but may occur occasionally around previously scheduled events. Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity and fingering for working with computer key boards.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy clinical environment where interruptions are frequent and assigned responsibilities are varied.
  • Skill in reading, comprehending and following complex instructions.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to effectively interact with patients, faculty, staff, and students in addition to individuals outside the University community, in positive manner, to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Job requires mental and physical stamina for effective interaction with various people and efficient completions of assigned responsibilities.
  • Clinic is highly technical with a significant reliance on computer technology.
