Two (2) Positions Available

The Medical Record Technician (MRT) position supports the management of health information and data integrity in the Health Information Management department.  This position encompasses customer service support, release of patient health information and radiology images, medical record documentation validation and scanning, deficiency analysis, and chart correction.

  • Retrieves documentation from designated locations in the hospital and clinics for scanning.
  • Processes paper documentation for scanning into the EHR and reviews images for data quality and integrity.
  • Provides customer support to the HIM department by resolving customer queries, recommending solutions, and providing guidance.
  • Processes documentation requests from referring physicians and internal requestors.
  • Validates release of information authorization form and processes requests for release of patient information and/or radiology materials.
  • Assists patients with access to the patient’s portal. Reviews and processes requests for proxy access. 
  • Assigns access to the electronic health record to the external auditors and other reviewers.
  • Performs ongoing and ad hoc documentation audits and generates documentation compliance reports.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, hospital staff, and external customers to provide guidance pertaining to health information inquiries. 

Registration as an Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by the American Health Information Management Association if required by the employing department. If registration is not required, the applicant must have 18 months of experience in the preparation and maintenance of medical records in a health care facility or program.
