Job Summary:

UI Health is seeking a Physical Therapist to join the Physical Therapy team in providing Outpatient services to our Neuro and Vestibular patient population.

The Physical Therapist is responsible for the provision of physical therapy services within her or his individual scope of clinical competence including: examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, development and implementation of a plan of care that includes direct intervention, communication, collaboration and patient education and the evaluation of outcomes. The PT is also responsible for upholding professional standards and promoting quality in practice. 

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Performs the duties of a professional Physical Therapist for an assigned caseload with emphasis on providing comprehensive care.
  • Direct Patient Care time (actual time with patients, may vary from scheduled) - includes all direct interventions and patient education that is integrated as a part of treatment session Indirect Patient Care (IPC) - time spent in chart review, documentation (direct patient care documentation as well as any other documentation related to patient care), scheduling, attending team or family meetings and rounds (documented as clinic time), ordering equipment, assisting other staff.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks related to the patient care services they provide, related to department operations, or required for regulatory and organizational compliance. This includes time sheets, case presentations, staff meetings, committee meetings, giving inservices.
  • Responsible for development of professional development and skills for self as well as sharing expertise and participation in development of the role of physical therapy throughout the health system and within the community.Academic and Clinical Teaching for students and student clinicians.
  • This position will require some acute care coverage.
  • Other related duties as assigned. (Alternative productivity expectations may be determined within this classification based on fluctuating needs of the department) 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1.   Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation at time of employment (if not licensed at time of employment, passing score on examination for licensure is needed within two months).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of  1 year of professional Physical Therapy experience in an Outpatient setting, working with Neuro / Vestibular patient populations.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
 

  • Knowledge of physical therapy evaluation and treatment with specific skills related to the individual scope of practice
  • Knowledge of the operation of equipment generally found in a physical medicine and rehabilitation department
  • Knowledge of the principles of evidence based practice
  • Knowledge of age specific and culturally relevant physical therapy roles and needs
  • Skill in conducting patient education and articulating physical therapy’s role in the delivery of patient care, in accordance with current practice concepts
  • Skill in administering the evaluation procedures and treatment interventions relevant to the defined area of practice
  • Skill in utilizing online resources to access evidence for clinical decision making
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Ability to establish and maintain supportive interpersonal relationships with patients and families, peers, subordinates, superiors, and students
  • Ability to articulate physical therapy’s role in the delivery of patient care, in accordance with current practice concepts
  • Ability to work effectively on a team
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback to superiors, peers, and students
  • Ability to teach clinical knowledge and skills to others
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
