The Department of Oral Biology in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a highly motivated full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to provide research services to study the role of cell-matrix interactions in cartilage homeostasis and regulation of the mTORC1 signaling axis. The candidate will conduct research activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. David Reed.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, experience with statistical analysis, and a strong background in molecular biology, and a demonstrated commitment to dental and/or musculoskeletal research.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties:

  • Collaborate with Principal Investigator, other researchers, and key personnel to meet research objectives
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data
  • Perform Laboratory experiments
  • Maintain lab notebook with recorded data
  • Publish original scientific research in peer-review journals
  • Present research findings at national/international scientific conferences
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a PhD/Doctorate Degree in biochemistry, biomedical engineering, dentistry, or other related health science fields. Applicants must be within the first 4 years of receiving their PhD/Doctorate degree to be eligible for this position.
  • 1-3 years of research experience
  • Expertise in cell culture of primary cells, western blot analysis, DNA and RNA purification, PCR, RT-PCR, immunohistochemical analysis, basic bioinformatics, and/or microsurgical technique.
