The Division of Prevention and Public Health Sciences in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking candidates for a full-time twelve-month faculty position on non-tenure-track at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor for Interprofessional Education and Practice.

The purpose of the College of Dentistry’s initiative in Interprofessional Education and Practice (IEP) is to enable dental students to be conversant with and capable of bidirectional referrals and collaborative clinical care with other members of the health care team. Through didactic instruction and clinical service learning, dental students are to understand how strategic partnerships with other health care professionals is essential to achieve the best health outcomes for patients and communities. IEP is a rich source of education, practice, collaboration, and mutual professional support and provides excellent opportunities for scholarly activity.

This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising Interprofessional Education (IPE), Interprofessional Practice (IPP) and Evidence-based Dentistry (EBD) activities at extramural community sites and the College of Dentistry for pre-doctoral students. The faculty member will serve as educator, mentor and supervising clinician and is involved in program development and didactic and clinical teaching in the pre-doctoral curriculum. The faculty member will work closely with the division of Prevention and Public Health Sciences as well as the Office of Academic Affairs in daily functions. 

Candidates must have a DDS/DMD or equivalent, have an active dental license and/or be eligible for full licensure in Illinois or the qualifications to obtain a restricted faculty license. Experience in clinical teaching and mentoring in a community health care setting and/or a pre-doctoral dental education environment and experience in evidenced-based dentistry, curriculum development and interprofessional education are highly preferred.

The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to interdisciplinary care and willingness to engage other academic departments, and a desire to affect positive change with an innovative and collaborative spirit.
