The University of Illinois Cancer Center is seeking multiple candidates for a Visiting Research Associate II position. These positions will support multiple research projects devoted to the ChicagoCHEC-Cancer Health Equity Collaborative. These positions will also assist Research Scientists/Principal Investigators with planning and implementing community outreach programs, support research project recruitment efforts, disseminating culturally and linguistically relevant cancer materials and research project findings, and writing progress reports to funding agency and various stakeholders.

•Participates in specialized community-based research in collaboration with UI CancerCenter Research Scientists/Principal Investigators.
•Adheres to research aims to achieve sponsor objectives.
•Build strong relationships within Chicago’s Federally Qualified Health Centers, safety-net hospitals, and cancer centers to link individuals to navigation programs for healthinsurance, screening, diagnostic follow-up, and treatment where needed.
•Work with ChicagoCHEC investigators to effectively navigate communitypartnerships for ChicagoCHEC Projects, and support participant recruitment efforts
•Conduct and participate in in-person and virtual community outreach events alignedwith the National Cancer Institute (NCI) National Outreach Network (NON) priorityareas, e.g., Cancer prevention, early detection, education, navigation, diversity inclinical trials, and survivorship.
•Work with ChicagoCHEC Community Steering Committee (CSC) memberorganizations and other partner organizations for outreach to develop and planactivities for target groups
•Utilize focus group-type format and semi-structured discussion guide to gather inputfrom participants during Community CHEC-in planned by the CSC
•Collect and summarize data and information and report findings to ResearchScientists/Principal Investigators, research staff, and community partners. Assist withscientific reports and summarizing research findings for papers, presentations, andother documents.
•Develops and maintains research records, track community activities, and compile listof resources for community members
•Assist in developing, attending, implementing, and evaluating all ChicagoCHECactivities and programs, including, but not limited to, meetings, conferences,community engagement, research with underserved populations, clinical trials, andcommunity-engaged research.
•Identify and establish good working relationships with peers at other research sites,Cancer Centers, university departments, and appropriate University personnel toachieve defined goals and objectives.

•Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required. 
  • Minimum of one year of related research experience.
  • Knowledge of research concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Prior Community Health Educator experience a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
