The Department of Anatomy and Cell biology at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position, available immediately for highly motivated Ph.Ds. and/or MDs with training in the fields of Cellular Neurobiology and Neurodegeneration. Candidates with expertise working on mouse models of Neurodegeneration are particularly encouraged to apply. This NIH-supported position (R21NS120126) is for one year, with potential annual extensions based on research performance.

Available research projects involve an evaluation of the role played by selected protein kinases on the pathogenesis of Huntington’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Expertise on basic biochemical (i.e.; immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation) and histochemical (immunohistochemistry, microscopy and image analysis) is required. Candidates should display high motivation and a penchant for intellectual rigor. They should also be able of designing and conducting experiments independently, and capable of scientific writing.
